“Stroke Community” - What can it do for me?
For many people, dealing with the stroke and its effects can be incredibly trying. Activities that were previously very easy, can now be difficult and frustrating. They may have overwhelming thoughts and memories of what life was like before and become discouraged with their “new normal”. We can help by providing:
Peer Support - People with chronic conditions like stroke can benefit from talking with someone who can relate to their experiences. Peer support can help reduce stress and assist with re-integration into the community. A fellow stroke survivor, has similar experiences, understands the frustrations, can empathize and point out services and supports that may be helpful.
Activities - Aside from our monthly meetings, we have monthly movie nights and dinner outings as well as weekly Darts and Bowling groups. Or perhaps you would just like to go for coffee with one of our members.
Information - Check out our website and quarterly newsletter.
